Check drinking water is safe:
Use bottled water or treated water
- check the water you use to clean your teeth.

Personal hygiene is vital:
Always wash your hands after going to the toilet and always before handling and eating food.

Sexually transmitted diseases:
These are a serious threat to health throughout the world - condoms offer some protection. If you think you have been infected, obtain medical advice immediately then consult one of our doctors on your return.

Beware of these foods:
Raw vegetables, salads and peeled fruit, raw shellfish, icecream and icecubes. Also anything that is uncooked that has come in contact with human hands or has been rinsed in water. Cold or re-heated food can all be contaminated. Freshly cooked foods are safer!

Bites from insects and animals:
In some tropical areas some diseases are spread by insects and ticks. Use insect repellents and protective clothing, consider soaking clothes in Permethrin.

Avoid swimming in fresh water streams, marshes and rice paddies.Unlike the locals, tourists usually do not have immunity to illnesses.
